ABOUT

GARETH BRIGHT

Gareth Bright is a South African photographer born in 1984 in Pietermaritzburg – South Africa, he specializes in long term projects with a focus on environmental and humanitarian issues. Based in South East Asia permanently since 2010, Gareth has worked through out Asia as well as in his home continent of Africa.

During his time living in Bangkok, Gareth spent several years helping out and working alongside Philip Blenkinsop at his and his partner, Yonola Viguerie’s Two Snakes Studio in Bangkok’s Chinatown. During this time under their guidance and friendship Gareth was able to reimagine how he could capture the world with his camera. He continues to evolve.

Since leaving Bangkok and relocating to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2014, Bright has spent much of his time focused on an on-going long term project photographing the Mekong River. Gareth and fellow photographer Luc Forsyth worked on a two year project following the Mekong from Sea to Source called A Rivers tail. It is one of the most comprehensive multi-media reportages of the Mekong River on the web.

Bright has remained in the region and continues to work on stories related to the Mekong River and it’s surrounding areas, as well as pursuing other stories with an environmental slant.

Bright’s work has been featured in international media outlets and non-profit organizations.
